Schneider exec Remont becomes EDF CEO – BFM Business

PARIS, Sept. 9 (Reuters) – Luc Remont, a Schneider Electric executive who is seen as the frontrunner for the job, will become EDF’s next director, BFM Business reported Friday, citing several sources close to the matter.

“There is no more tension,” BFM Business quoted one of the sources as adding, “His appointment is imminent.”

EDF declined to comment when Reuters reached out after the report was published.

Remont, who turned 53 on Wednesday, began his career with the French defense procurement and technology agency, according to a biography on Schneider’s corporate website.

EDF, in which the state has an 84% stake, is currently being fully nationalized and its longtime chairman and CEO, Jean-Bernard Levy, is being replaced.
