The 10th Annual Macomb Business Awards focused on the successful emergence of the COVID pandemic and diversity as a way to grow businesses.

This year’s event was held on Thursday afternoon at The Emerald Theater in Mount Clements. The Macomb County Planning and Economic Development team oversees the awards program that recognizes companies in six assessed categories.

“We are so pleased to have put the pandemic behind us and to partner with our businesses in the region,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel. “I want to thank all of our companies for what they are doing to make Macomb County an economic force.”

There were 131 nominees in the six prize categories.

“It was an extremely competitive group,” Hackel said. “While we were only able to announce six winners, I think all of our nominees deserve recognition and I would like to recognize them too.”

Vicky Rowinski, planning and economic director for Macomb County, spoke to the crowd about the role businesses both large and small play in moving the county forward.

“It’s so important to look at the impact our businesses have had,” says Rowinski. “Over 95% of our companies have fewer than 500 employees and they make such a huge contribution to who we are as a province.”
