United Appoints Jonathan Ireland as Senior Vice President of Finance

CHICAGO, September 23, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — United Airlines today has the name Jonathan Ireland senior vice president of finance, who oversees carriers $40 billion operating cost structure and $5 billion capital budget, managing the business planning functions and setting industry-leading financial targets for enterprises. Ireland will also take responsibility for the airline’s purchasing function. He most recently served as vice president of financial planning and analysis and will continue to report to: Gerry LadermanUnited’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.

“During his time at United, Jonathan has helped United deal with fuel price spikes, economic downturns and, in recent years, the most challenging financial conditions United have ever faced,” said Laderman. “As we move forward with United Next’s growth plan, I am confident that his careful management of our capital plans and cost management efforts will continue to drive our success.”

Prior to his promotion, Ireland held increasing positions of responsibility in United’s finance organization, serving as vice president of financial planning and analysis; vice president and chief financial officer of operations; vice president and chief financial officer for the commercial team; and director of investor relations.

Ireland has a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
