War, inflation throws world economy out of balance

The global economy outside the US is stuttering, thrown off course by rising inflation, an energy crisis and now Russia’s nuclear threats of war.

Business surveys released Friday show that economic activity in Europe declined sharply in September, raising the risk of a recession in one of the world’s industrial powers as governments grapple with rising prices and disruptions from Moscow’s attack on Ukraine.
